WTTA Newsletter ~ August 15, 2023

Notes from the WTTA President: Anna von Dielingen

Members,

We’ve not had a newsletter update lately, we owe a special “Thanks” to Dennis Anderson for his help in putting these together and for getting this one out to all of you.

You may all know by now, but it is unfortunate that the Board of Directors and Membership present at a special meeting voted unanimously to repeal the membership of Jeremy Tuell. I say unfortunate because we do not want to expel members, we all want to get along and have respect. In this case, many park violations occurred over the course of 2 years, many warnings and two 30-day suspensions were given with no corrective action nor accountability for behaviors by Mr. Tuell. Membership decided he would not be allowed to return to the park, but per the Bylaws he has a 90 day window of time to sell his site and RV, if he wishes to do so. To date, we have offered dates for an escorted visit to manage his site, he couldn’t make those dates and he has not since requested alternate dates. If anyone sees Jeremy Tuell on WTTA property without an escort (it would be a board member and possibly our Caretaker), immediately locate a board member or one of our Property Managers, Julie Ritchie-Cody and Skip Haines, to let us know.

A few housekeeping items –

1.       We have new furniture in the lodge, 2 sofas and a cushy chair, please take care of them and treat them as you would if they were in your home. These were funded by past annual fundraiser events, the cost for all 3 items came to $1717. They are made in the US by Ashley Furniture company. A special “shout out” goes to John Blackhurst for picking the new items up and taking the old sofas to the transfer station.

2.       People continue to speed in the park, especially up near the gate. This stirs up a lot of dust and does damage our roads with the right speed and tires. The dust is very disturbing for those whose site is along the roads, so … be mindful of the 5 mph speed limit.

3.       I was walking our two small dogs last weekend and noticed a SIZEABLE pile of dog poop along the road. Your dogs are your responsibility, you must clean up after them! No one wants to be out strolling and stepping into a pile of POO. EUUUW!

4.       There have been several incidents recently where the front gate has been toggled open for an event or whatever, but was not closed following the event and remained open all night. We all feel safer when the gate is closed, so if you open it you MUST loop back and close it. Also note, if the gate opens part way and you drive out before it fully opens, it will not close.

5.       Our co-Property Managers, Julie Ritchie-Cody and Skip Haines have been working to get the park cleaned up and members to spiffy their sites; they are doing excellent work on this. However, there are still several folks that need to clean up. A clean park helps all of our site values and just feels good to have a nice looking environment. During an open session of a Board meeting on July 2, members developed standards of cleanliness, while these are not Bylaw or Park Rule changes, these are recommendations for all of us for a great looking environment:

  1. Clean up trash on the site, debris/toys, etc.

  2. RV clean on the outside, ask Prop. Mgr. if ok to use a power hose.

  3. Keep yard weeded and mowed

  4. Keep the roof cleaned, needles and wood debris are fire fuel. Remove moss.

  5. Repair damaged roofs

  6. Organize personal items on the outside, keep tidy.

  7. Structural integrity is essential – of RV and snow cover

  8. Curb appeal

  9. Paint your facia boards and skirting, basically clean and tidy

  10. Remove standing water from buckets, etc. to reduce mosquito infestations

  11. Take water toys home after use in the river

  12. Remove non-operable vehicles

Now the FUN!

Julie Ritchie-Cody, Laurie Haines, Carole Rogers and others are hard at work planning the Annual Fundraising event. They have donations from businesses and are expecting member donations for a silent auction so if you have items to donate contact one of them asap. This is shaping up to be a great day, a Hawaiian Luau themed party with lots of games, great food, etc. We hope all of you will attend, bring your family and friends for a good time. Proceeds are for a well needed remodel of our lodge kitchen! See the attached flier for more details. And … don’t forget your hula skirt!

That’s it for now. Enjoy the final days of summer, have fun in our lovely park, and we’ll see you at the Fundraiser on August 26! Oh, don’t forget we have another full moon this month, August 30!, second one this month is called a Blue Supermoon. This event will not happen again for a very long time.

Community Garden:

This summer the community garden has been a big success.

1. There are 3 plots open for next year. See Skip Haines to reserve a plot.

2.  Thursday, 8/10 we had our 1st Harvest Party! Some of our gardeners have placed produce in the lodge kitchen to share!

Work Party Change:

Due to the Annual Fundraiser the August Work party event has been changed to August 19th from 9 am to Noon.

Enjoy!!
